Group therapy based on “Problem Management +
We are pleased to offer you the group therapy based on "Problem Management +" – a self-help program for people living or who have lived under stressful conditions. This is a short program developed by the World Health Organization, designed to help you cope with emotional and practical difficulties.
Who is this training for?
This training is suitable for you if you experience one or more of the following difficulties:
Stress and Anxiety
- You feel that you cannot cope with stress, anxiety, intense fear, low mood, or numbness.
- You have persistent distressing thoughts that interfere with you.
- You experience rapid heartbeat, tension, and difficulty breathing.
Practical Problems
- You find it difficult to handle assigned tasks and solve practical problems.
- You feel hopeless and lack confidence in your abilities.
Decreased Motivation and Activity
- You have stopped or reduced activities that previously brought you joy.
- You avoid social events.
- You have reduced your engagement in household chores, self-care, or work responsibilities.
Lack of Support
- You feel that you lack support from friends, family, or helping organizations.
- You find it difficult to ask for help because you don’t want to burden others with your problems.
- You have no one you can trust.
All the above difficulties are a normal and common reaction of the body to stressful or threatening situations. In this training, we will provide you with tools to help you manage them in the future.
How will the training be conducted?
Training content:
- Methods to reduce stress and anxiety.
- Strategies for managing practical problems.
- Techniques to increase activity levels.
- Ways to enhance support.
Each of these strategies has proven its effectiveness and usefulness for people who have experienced stressful situations.
The training will consist of theoretical introductions and practical exercises.
Number of sessions: 5.
Session frequency: once a week.
Session duration: 90 minutes.
Trainer: our intern Natalia, a master's student in Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University, specializing in stress management supervised by Iryna Norkina, certified PM+ supervisor.
Training language: English or Russian.
Session format: individual or group work (depending on your preference).
Training location: Maartje Lindeman Psychotherapie.
Address: Janskerkhof 15, 3512 BL Utrecht.
Dates and time: to be determined based on participants' availability.
Cost: (partly)covered by RMO/RMA and healthinsurance-companies. In the case the costs are not fully covered by your insurance-company please contact us, we’ll make arrangements about the payment.
How to register?
You can sign up for the training if you are already undergoing therapy at our clinic, are on our waiting list, or have a referral from your GP for help by psychological problems (make sure the GP writes about a probable DSM 5 diagnosis).
